General Tips

  • When leaving an airport, try to have a mix of US dollars and pesos in small change. Many types of transport won’t have change available.
  • Although you can rent a car at most airports we advise against this unless you are an experienced traveller The roads and driving style in the DR are likely to be a major change of pace.
  • The times and prices shown here are averages at the time of writing, but are subject to change over time. Also, bear in mind that prices can be negotiable in certain circumstances!
  • If travelling by taxi, you’ll likely be charged around $10 extra if you have large equipment like windsurfing gear.
